Drilon look-alike gives dirty sign on EDSA, paints national costume with ‘gina

MANILA, Philippines — An impersonator of Sen. Franklin Drilon joined the celebration of the 1986 EDSA military coup and showed up in the Philippine national costume painted with the words “I (heart) vagina” and then gave a dirty finger to photographers.

An impersonator showed up at the EDSA celebration looking like Sen. Drilon in a barong, and gave a dirty finger to media photographers. It was not known if the Drilon poser was part of any of the groups celebrating the 1986 military coup.

Drilon was appointed justice secretary by Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino, who was sworn in as President after a military coup that ended the 20-year-rule of the late Ferdinand Marcos. The coup was led by then Marcos defense minister Juan Ponce Enrile and Constabulary chief Fidel Ramos. The coup leaders allowed Aquino to take the Presidency.

As Aquino’s then justice secretary, Drilon charged Enrile with the crime of “rebellion complexed with murder” for later leading a coup attempt against Aquino, Enrile was arrested and detained along with now Senator Gregorio Honasan.
